A former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, has described the Nigerian Judiciary as being among the best in the world. He spoke during the public presentation of a book entitled: Save our Constitutional Democracy from Emasculation, written by Prof. Ben Nwabueze at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Conference Centre, Abuja yesterday.

Obi recalled how he became governor through the courts, came back from impeachment, as well as secured the tenure interpretation that led to the staggering of elections in the country.

He said that those interventions renewed his faith in the judiciary, especially when, between him and his God, he knew he did not know the judges.“Indeed”, he stressed,” the judiciary remains the last hope for the common man.”

Obi commended Nwabueze for his contributions to the growth of Nigeria, as a member of many constitution drafting committees, a former Minister of Education, a university teacher, membership of many respected social cultural groups, and, most importantly, his contributions towards the demolition of the empire of ignorance through books that are intellectually stimulating.

The chairman of the event and the speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, said that there were many things about Nwabueze that were worthy of emulation.

He noted that even in his old age he was still consumed by what was good for Nigeria as shown by his most recent book.Nwabueze thanked all those that graced the occasion. He urged Nigerians to always have the country’s progress and development at heart.

He thanked Nigerians for their love and concern for him. He particularly thanked Obi for visiting him now and then in his house. Many dignitaries attended the event such as the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu; Deputy Senate President, Rt. Hon. Ike Ekweremadu, represented by Sen. Obi, Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu, among others.
